Glory to God in the Tallest

In keeping with Christian ideas of poverty and humility, the Pope is to say some magic words in the presence of royalty, ministers of state, and a few hundred subordinates of his own. The occasion is the continuing tallness of the Sagrada Familia, a very large basilica designed by the Venerable Antoni Gaudí, apparently in the hope that its spiritual power would lure Barcelona's anticlerical anarchists back to the former church of Tomás de Torquemada and the future church of General Franco. As one might expect, there is already a schism over whether the pious pile is being completed according to the intentions of Gaudí's mediaeval soul, since the great man himself had the misfortune to be gathered unto God before it could be completed, and has not noticeably expressed any clear preference by means of children, water stains, or other widely accepted saintly communications media. It would certainly be poetic if the finished building were to resemble the architect's original vision to the same degree as the teachings of an Iron Age Jewish hellfire preacher resemble those of a modern-day global profiteering and sexual abuse corporation.
