Diesel Be the Day
Malicious and backsliding persons have suggested that the carbon efficiency of rail travel is underestimated, and have even recommended Heathen Chinee-style nanny-state interference with market forces in order to manipulate passengers into using politically correct routes. Researchers used seven sets of data to measure the industry's carbon footprint, rather than confining themselves to the straightforward simplicity of taxpayers' outlay and private profit; which doubtless explains the bizarre idea that operators should lower prices, if you please, in order to decoy passengers onto empty trains. In light of such un-entrepreneurial and un-British reasoning, it will come as no surprise to find green agitators demanding that the traditional methods of train transport, as pioneered by Robert Louis Stevenson's Rocket and codified in Magna Carta, should be purged in favour of vulgar electrification. At this rate of infiltration, it cannot be long until not even Fishy Rishi's little helicopter is safe.
