Fertile Relations
One of the EU's major cultural centres, having just taken a major step towards implementing genuinely civilised values, has offered to share them with a primitive and superstitious neighbour. Ireland, a country noted as the main source of twentieth-century English literature, may soon permit women requiring abortions to cross the border from the English colony, which was left in such an uncivilised state by the British Empire that women's health and family planning still come under criminal law. In the interests of strength, stability and feminism within reasonable limits, Tin-Pot Tessie has decreed that decisions about Northern Ireland are best left to the devolved assembly; a judgement which contrasts rather subtly with her attitude to the coalition of chaos in the devolved assembly for Scotland. The Northern Ireland assembly, coincidentally enough, was recently disassembled with some help from the dead-eyed warden's fundamentalist friends in the Demagogic Ulsterpersons' Party.
