Britain on the Brink
It appears that Germany and France have been playing good bouncer and bad bouncer at the entrance to Club Europe. His Majesty's Government is minded to join the EU's legislative scheme for protecting the free market in electric vehicles against competition, and the beastly French have dropped their initial objections provided the mainland condescends to align with the Continent's policy on tariffs. So far His Majesty's Government has refrained from the standard response of thqueaming and thqueaming and demanding unconditional surrender and may, after only a decade or so, be perilously close to the realisation that partaking of club privileges tends to require conforming with club rules. It is to be hoped that our delicate economy will not be unduly traumatised should that rather significant penny happen to drop at last.
