Riches for a Rag

Having just recently survived a distressing bout of Barclay family values, the parent company of the Daily and Sunday Toryguff is once more in trouble with its creditors. A spokesbeing and an anonymoid united to reassure an anxious nation that the Daily Mail of the posher classes was in fine fiscal form; appropriately, the parent company of the Rothermere Stürmer is in the offing to pick over the remains should it all go Churchill-shaped, along with the Amazon mogul and, delightfully enough, some Belgians. Although Britain's leading liberal newspaper stopped short of suggesting that the Telegraph might benefit from the traditional British virtues of thrift and hard work, it did refer to the long-outmoded communication device as "one of the UK's crown jewel media assets," thereby hinting none too subtly at its archaic attitudes and garish bad taste.
